HOTEL CASA
ENCANTADA

Affordable Luxury
In the heart of Mexico's most beautiful pueblo
Pátzcuaro, Michoacán MX

Hotel Casa Encantada was built in 1784. Victoria Ryan bought the historic building in 1997. The home had been passed down in the Cerda family for 213 years. The last Owner, Cuca (Refugia) Cerda was connected with Diego Rivera & Frida Kahlo, Lazaro Cardenas, Juan O'Gorman among many other artists & intellectuals of her time. The restoration took two full years. The adobe walls, the hand-hewn beams, the light in the courtyard... none of it was staged for you. It was already here.

Victoria Ryan

A little about the owner of Hotel Casa Encantada

Victoria Ryan didn't come to Pátzcuaro for a hotel. She came for a *pied-à-terre* , a tiny place to keep while she went on with her life in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Her real estate agent showed her the opposite: a huge, crumbling, overwhelming fixer-upper. The first time she saw it, she hated it. The second time, she said, "Oh, I have to have this place."
With an immense amount of work it became a home, Casa Encantada.
After that, she decided to share it with the world and Hotel Casa Encantada was born.
You're sleeping inside a restored colonial home, not a room built to look like one. Victoria is a working artist — oils for most of her life, then sculpture, and watercolor now. The paintings and sculptures throughout Casa Encantada aren't hotel decor pulled from a catalog. They're hers, or they're from the artists and friends she's collected over thirty years in one of Mexico's most artistic regions. That's the difference here. You're not staying in a property. You're staying in someone's life's work, and you'll feel it.
